Albuquerque, NM – Two metro area all-star athletes are now $7000 richer thanks to a local realty company.
According to Douglas Vaughan, CCIM, CRB and CRS Chairman of The Vaughan Company Realtors, student athletes work hard throughout their high school careers and their senior year is the perfect time to recognize them for their dedication and perseverance.
The Vaughan Company hosted an awards luncheon on May 13th, where the Metro Male and Female All Star Athletes of the Year were presented with a $7000 scholarship to the New Mexico College of their choice. The award recipients for this year were Justin Knauber from Sandia High School and Melissa Rohr from Cibola High School.
A committee consisting of Vaughan Company representatives and various members of the high school athletic community evaluated the metro area scholarship applicants based on the following criteria:
- * H.S. Transcripts and Letters of Recommendation, 25%
- * Athletic Achievements and Awards & Recognition, 40%
- * Personal Statement of Goals & Dreams, 15%
- * Extracurricular Activities & Community Service, 10%
- * Demonstrates Financial Need, 10%
- * Athletic Achievements and Awards & Recognition, 40%
All athletic directors in the metro area were given the opportunity to nominate one male athlete and one female athlete to represent their school.
